Women’s Transitional Housing

Women’s Transitional Housing at The Green Door CoLiving provides a secure, supportive environment for women who are rebuilding their lives after trauma, incarceration, treatment, or housing instability. These homes are designed to create stability while promoting healing, self-sufficiency, and personal growth in a structured, non-clinical setting.

Whether a woman is exiting a treatment program, escaping a toxic or violent environment, aging out of a system, or recovering from a period of instability, our transitional homes offer a safe place to land and rebuild with guidance and support.

What Is Women’s Transitional Housing?

This housing tier offers structured, short- to medium-term residential living for women navigating significant life transitions. Residents live in fully furnished homes with shared or private rooms and are expected to participate in basic routines, contribute to the household, and follow a clear set of house expectations.

Each home operates with trauma-informed practices in mind, providing emotional safety, privacy, peer support, and access to critical life resources. Residents are encouraged to take active steps toward independence, whether that means securing stable employment, enrolling in a program, regaining custody, or accessing wraparound services.

What the Homes Offer:

  • Safe, clean, and fully furnished residential settings

  • Shared or private bedrooms based on availability

  • Oversight by a house manager or trained lead resident

  • Clear house rules, daily expectations, and structure

  • Peer support from women with shared life experiences

  • Case management support or referrals (when needed)

  • Assistance with employment resources, personal goals, and basic life skills

  • Pantry items and access to a communal kitchen

These homes are not licensed treatment facilities or shelters but are designed to support recovery and progress in a healthy, well-maintained environment.

Who This Is For:

  • Women exiting inpatient treatment or rehab

  • Women leaving correctional institutions or diversion programs

  • Domestic violence survivors who are no longer in crisis but need transitional housing

  • Women recovering from housing instability or long-term dependence on public systems

  • Mothers working toward reunification or independence

Program Goals

  • Support goal setting and next steps such as employment, reunification, or permanent housing

  • Provide an emotionally safe space where trauma informed care is respected

  • Encourage personal responsibility, healing, and long-term self sufficiency

Why This Program Works

  • Women in transition face unique barriers including emotional, legal, financial, and social

  • A safe home with structure can help prevent relapse, re-incarceration, or housing loss
